Roberta Ronchi studied psychology in Milan, graduating in 2011 with a PhD in experimental psychology, linguistics and cognitive neuroscience. During her thesis, she investigated various aspects of monitoring in the neuropsychological syndrome of unilateral spatial neglect. In 2013, she moved to Switzerland for post-doctoral stays, first at EPFL and then at UNIGE. From 2017, she developed her own line of research on disorders of self-awareness thanks to a Marie Heim-Vögtlin career grant from the SNSF.

In 2021, she obtained an SNSF project funding and set up a research group. Her work focuses on various explicit and implicit aspects of the compromise of the bodily self, awareness of neurological illness and consequent cognitive disorders. For this, she integrates behavioural, electrophysiological and lesion analysis measures, as well as rehabilitation methods for unilateral spatial neglect. In addition to her academic work, she joined in 2019 the Neuropsychology Unit of the Division of Neurology at the HUG, a unit which she leads since 2021. She is heavily involved in research and clinical activities, as well as in training and teaching in the faculties of medicine, and of psychology and educational sciences. She is also a member of the Steering Committee of the MAS in Neuropsychology. She was appointed assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the UNIGE's Faculty of Medicine in May 2025.
