Jasmine ABDULCADIR

Jasmine Abdulcadir obtained her medical degree from the 玉美人传媒 of Florence, then board certifications in gynaecology and obstetrics, and in surgical gynaecology in Geneva. She completed her training with various diplomas in sexual medicine, in vulvar pathology and surgery, and in the management of sexual violence. She also made several traineeships , notably at the Vulva Clinic in Ann Arbor, 玉美人传媒 of Michigan, in Paris, with Dr Pierre Foldès, inventor of clitoral reconstruction after excision, and at the Refugee Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona State 玉美人传媒.
In 2010, she founded the first and only consultation in Switzerland dedicated to people who have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM), offering prevention, care, psychosexual support and surgical procedures such as clitoral reconstruction, in a culturally appropriate and trauma-informed approach. Since 2018, Jasmine Abdulcadir has been in charge of the Gynaeco-Obstetric Emergency Unit and of the care of victims of sexual assault at the HUG. She conducts research into the consequences of FGM/C, sexual violence and the anatomy and physiology of the vulva and clitoris. A former consultant at the WHO's Department of Reproductive Health and Research, she remains a member of the WHO Guidelines Development Group on FGM/C and a consultant to other organisations such as the Swiss Network Against Female Genital Mutilation. Of Italian and Somali origin, her commitment to the health of women and girls with FGM/C led to her being awarded the Order of Knight by the Italian Republic in 2018. After becoming a lecturer at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics in April 2025.
