
Haran Burri obtained his medical degree in Geneva in 1992. He went on to specialise in internal medicine and cardiology, obtaining board certifications in 2001. He also completed further training in rhythmology in Lyon and Geneva. He has been a Staff Physician in the HUG Division of Cardiology since 2007.
His clinical research focuses on cardiac pacing, in particular ventricular resynchronisation and stimulation of the conduction system. A very active member of the European Heart Rhythm Association and the European Society of Cardiology, of which he is president-elect and will hold office in 2026, he has also chaired the ‘Cardiac pacing and electro-physiology’ working group of the Swiss Society of Cardiology. He has been a lecturer at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine since 2007, and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in 2015, he was tenured as Associate Professor in 2017, then promoted to Full Professor in April 2025.
