Tumor radiation and hearing loss: overcoming the dilemma

After completing his medical degree and a master’s in medical research methodology in Thessaloniki, Greece, Dimitrios moved to Geneva to pursue clinical training in otorhinolaryngology. His clinical and research interests focus on hearing disorders, particularly the prevention of acquired forms of hearing loss. In 2022, he joined Prof. Senn’s lab to undertake an MD-PhD project aimed at mitigating radiation-induced hearing loss in patients treated for vestibular schwannoma. Dimitrios seeks to bridge the gap between fundamental research and clinical care in hearing disorders, where preventive strategies remain limited.
