Valeria Catapano
Muscle formation and repair: the mysterious protein EB2
Valeria comes from the South of Italy and grew up in Rome, before heading north to Milan where she studied Molecular Biology. After graduating, she swapped lab benches for boats during a year-long marine biology adventure across the Mediterranean—fuelling an insatiable curiosity for the unknown. Now in Charlotte Aumeier’s lab, she’s passionately unraveling how the cytoskeleton orchestrates myogenesis. She’s particularly focused on the transformation that turns myoblasts into myotubes. When she’s not peering through a microscope, Valeria is almost always on the move – travelling back to Italy to hang out with her dog or exploring new places chasing the sun.
