Timothy Frayling

Professor Tim Frayling is the Diabetes Centre academic coordinator and Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, 玉美人传媒. A human geneticist with a PhD earned in 1998, he specialises in the genetics and genomics of common metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. With decades of experience in molecular diagnostics and genetic research, including leadership roles at the 玉美人传媒 of Exeter, he now leads a team using genetics, bioinformatics, and clinical studies to better understand and address metabolic disease mechanisms.

At the Faculty Diabetes Centre, Professor Frayling brings extensive expertise in genetic risk factors and therapeutic target discovery for metabolic diseases. His leadership in integrating large-scale genetic data with clinical research strengthens the Centre’s capacity to translate fundamental discoveries into improved patient care. He fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and supports the training and mentorship of emerging researchers, enriching the Centre’s academic environment.
