Postdoctoral Position in Translational Immuno-Oncology (TIL Therapy)
About the project
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our translational immuno-oncology project. Our project focuses on investigating small-molecule compounds identified in our laboratory for their ability to enhance the expansion and activity of tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) for therapeutic applications. The goal is to generate proof-of-concept data for the use of our compounds in improving TIL-based immunotherapies, with a particular focus on in vivo validation, as well as a collaboration on studies using melanoma patient cells.
This position is part of an Innosuisse-funded 18 month project and offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of academic research, biotech innovation, and immunotherapy development. A start date of June 1st 2025 is strongly desired.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the in vivo work on TIL therapy in murine models, preparing the animal license application, optimizing protocols for TIL generation and function.
- Design and execute experiments to assess the impact of immune-boosting compounds on TIL function and tumor control.
- Support the human patient-derived TIL aspect of the project in collaboration with team members and external advisors.
- Contribute to data analysis and written reports.
- Engage with industry and clinical partners as part of the translational research effort.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a scientist with a strong background in mouse models of immunology, oncology, or a related field, ideally with experience in tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) mouse models.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and takes initiative, with a strong achiever spirit and the ability to work efficiently under time pressure. Reliability, teamwork, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a positive and solution-oriented mindset.
Essential qualifications
✔ Experience with mouse models of cancer and TIL therapy (highly desirable).
✔ Hands-on expertise in T cell immunology, functional assays (e.g. cytotoxicity assays), and multi-colour flow cytometry.
✔ PhD in immunology, cancer, biomedical sciences, or a related field (recent graduates preferred).
Desirable but not required
Experience with human patient-derived TILs.
Background in translational research or biotech-related projects.
Familiarity with TCR sequencing, RNA sequencing analysis, or tumour microenvironment profiling.
What we offer
- Hands-on experience in translational immuno-oncology, working with a highly innovative project.
- The chance to contribute to early-stage biotech development with potential clinical applications and establishment of a future start-up
- A dynamic research environment in Geneva, Switzerland, with access to excellent scientific and clinical networks.
- Competitive salary in line with Swiss postdoctoral funding schemes.
- Mentorship and career development opportunities, with potential exposure to industry and start-up networks.
How to apply
Interested candidates should send:
A cover letter (highlighting relevant experience and motivation for the position).
A CV (including publications and relevant research experience).
Contact details for at least two referees.
Candidates must be authorized to work in Switzerland or eligible for a Swiss work permit with a short processing time. Due to project timelines, visa sponsorship for non-EU/EFTA candidates may not be feasible.
