In the framework of theÌýÌý‘NCCRÌýEvolvingÌýLanguage’Ìý(), a center of excellence on language evolutionÌýinvolving 40 different research groups from a large variety of disciplines across Switzerland, we seekÌýqualified candidates for a postdoctoral position at the intersection of machine learning and natural language processing with possible extension to animal communication. This researcher will investigateÌýgeneralization abilitiesÌýof deep learning models applied toÌýlexical and grammatical phenomena, in collaboration with scientists in computational linguistics and neuroscience.Ìý

ÌýRequired qualifications:

The ideal Postdoc candidate should hold a PhD degree in computer science, computational linguistics or related fields. They have a background in natural language processing and machine learning. The applicant should also have strong programming skills. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Paola Merlo at the ÓñÃÀÈË´«Ã½ and Prof. Richard Hanhnloser at ETH and be affiliated withÌýone of the two institutions according to their profile.Ìý

Appointment for this position is for an initial period of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. Funding is currently available for 2 years.Ìý
