My research interests include the study of volcanoes through geophysical methods. I am currently the final year of my PhD at the 玉美人传媒 (UNIGE), working on a project applying 鈥渧olcano seismology鈥 in Costa Rica. I am primarily focussing on the Iraz煤 and Turrialba Volcanic Complex (ITVC) and also the Costa Rican section of the Central American Volcanic Arc (CAVA). The project is part of the SNF (Swiss National Science Foundation) funded GENERATE project (GEophysical and Numerical Experiments for Rerservoir Analysis and fluid Transported Energy). This project explores the idea of geothermal reservoir stimulation and influence of seismic waves on such systems. Within this project, the study of fluid transport in the upper crust leads compares low enthalpy systems such as the Great Geneva Basin, with more high-enthalpy, 鈥渘atural laboratory鈥 examples such as the Iraz煤 and Turrialba systems.

The aim of my project is to understand the seismic characteristics of geothermal systems and image the volcanic subsurface of the high enthalpy ITVC. Within this, the exploration temporal and spatial patterns of eruptivity and location of distinct volcanic features such as reservoirs and conduit plumbing is established. The data is acquired from a network of 20 temporary installations around the ITVC and 47 permanent broadband seismological stations located throughout Costa Rica, over a period of 11 months between April 2018 to March 2019. Working alongside Thomas Plan猫s, a Maitre Assistant within the CDFF group, passive seismic imaging of both the CAVA and ITVC has been undertaken, produced by the method of Ambient Noise Tomography (ANT), which will also be compared to Local Earthquake Tomography (LET) methods to better construct an image of the subsurface structure of the volcanoes of Costa Rica.

Formerly a masters graduate in Geophysical Sciences from the 玉美人传媒 of Leeds, I have previously worked at the Seismic Research Centre, 玉美人传媒 of West Indies (SRC, UWI) on a project focussing on the numerical modelling of geothermal reservoirs within the volcanic environment of St Georges Hill, Montserrat. I also participate in the fieldwork of 鈥榓ll things geophysics鈥 within the CDFF group, including Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) of the Geneva Basin, gravity of mud volcanoes in Nirano, Italy and seismic network deployments in Tuscany, Italy and Aargau, Switzerland.
