Thesis There is a growing concern across the planet that pressured by populationÌýgrowth, land and natural resources scarcity and economic expediency,Ìýfuture patterns of Urban development will frame the prosperityÌýand livelihood of communities in relation with their natural environment.ÌýSome current patterns such as urban sprawl have intended and unintendedÌýconsequences. Indeed, city centre decline, acceleration of gentrification,Ìýincreased reliance on the use of the private car, the loss ofÌýpublic space, environmental pressures and externalities are among aÌýlong list of externalities that will impact our common Urban Future, theÌýlivelihood of our cities and the wel being of the population. In this respectÌýdevelopment models such as Transit-Oriented Developmnet(TOD),Ìýas a strategy to curb urban sprawl and the further growth in the car use,Ìýis the central issues in recent debates about sustainable metropolitanÌýarea need to integrate new dynamics of change and be empowered byÌýthe literature and scientific research on the nexus between built environmentÌýand natural environment in the context of demographic and environmentalÌýchange.Ìý Ìý |
